Some people also arrange this cake in stages from the largest to the smallest at the top to symbolize fortune and increased prosperity.
4. Chicken and Duck
In the celebration of Chinese New Year, chicken or duck is usually cooked and served as a whole without being cut into pieces. This is interpreted as hope that the family stays together, intact, and happy. In addition, chicken and duck are symbols that mean loyalty and obedience. By eating chicken and duck, it is hoped that the people who consume them will be kept away from bad behavior.
Fish is often present in Chinese New Year celebrations because it is considered a symbol of prosperity for those who eat it. Milkfish is believed to be able to provide sustenance and luck continuously.
